Experience

Editorial

For more than three years, I worked as an in-house editor at Thames & Hudson Australia, where I project managed illustrated titles on art, architecture, interior design and gardening, and a small number of children’s books. I was responsible for overseeing around ten titles per year from across the list, including several general nonfiction titles. (You can see some of the books I worked on here.)

I have provided freelance editorial services to a range of clients, from self-published authors and arts organisations to small educational publishers, trade publishers and tertiary institutions, including RMIT, The Literacy Tower and Asia Pacific Writers & Translators.

As part of the 2016 Emerging Writers’ Festival, I worked as an editor, writer and production troubleshooter on the Gazette, a daily newspaper of reviews, interviews, opinion and creative writing.

I created the editorial concept for Guide Melbourne, a 72-page guidebook for international students, published by RMIT. In addition to writing and editing content, I co-managed the publication and took a leading role in production, including design.

Professional affiliations

I’ve delivered lectures and participated in panel events within the School of Media and Communication at RMIT, discussing editorial practice and current trends within the publishing industry.

I participate in workshops and undertake training through the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd).

Internships

I interned at Kill Your Darlings in an editorial role, where I helped to assess pitches, and copyedit and proofread content for publication. I also produced the weekly ‘Amusements & Distractions’ column.

I’ve even dipped my toe in the water of festival programming, undertaking a two-week intensive at Ubud Writers & Readers Festival in November 2017, where, among my many and varied tasks, I emceed an event!
